The Board Orientation Program took place between 1-2 February 2013 in New Delhi. It was organized by Institute of Public Enterprise - IPE and Mr Janez Podobnik, ICPE Acting Director General was invited by the Institute's Director prof. R.K. Mishra to hold an inaugural address. The program was designed for Chairmen, CEOs, COOs, CFOs, Independent Directors, Non-Executive Directors, Employee Directors, Prospective Directors, Senior Executives, Professionals from Institutional Investing/Consulting Firms, NGOs, Interest Groups, etc.
In the changed business scenario boards have herculean task to accomplish. In pursuit of good corporate governance directors encounter a host of new challenges and risks. Constant change in rules of the game due to integration of global markets, emergence of knowledge economies, innovative technologies, cut throat competition and legal regulations make the governance job more complicated and challenging. The two day Board Orientation Program is planned to provide and supplement the existing know how of board management. This program helped the participants to equip themselves with relevant information, tools and techniques to improve the overall board performance.

The key benefits of the program are to understand the broader context in which boards operate, clarifications about director duties, responsibilities and liabilities of as per the existing laws, improving awareness about the expectations of other stakeholders, better understanding of business risks and opportunities and enhancing resource utilization of the firm.
