The role of the ICPE was highlighted at the EU-India summit in New Delhi on 6 November 2009, where climate change was top of the agenda.
In their Joint Statement , the EU and India took note of the work carried out by the International Centre for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE) within the UN framework to promote cooperation in areas of entrepreneurship and SME development, corporate governance, trade and knowledge-based society through research consultancy, building on last year's EU-India Joint Action Plan , where the ICPE was already identified as a key agent in strengthening cooperation in these areas.
From 18 November to 6 December the ICPE will be carrying out a mission to India to follow up on the Summit commitments, including the launching of a generic technology transfer program (CCTAP, including a Green MBA) and a new training program on EU practices for indian institutions in various fields, including public enterprise, business regulations and sustainable rural development.
At the Summit, the EU and India also decided on joint investments in a number of environmental technology projects, including the partial financing of a factory that will make more environmentally friendly cars, and solar energy projects. An agreement on nuclear energy cooperation was also signed.
