Between 23-24 January 2014 ICPE organized in Hyderabad, India, the International Conference on "Public – Private Partnership: The Need of the Hour” in cooperation with the Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad.
The conference addressed the issues of the present status of public-private partnerships (PPP), examined the issues and challenges related to PPP, shared the experiences of countries from all over the world regarding PPPs, drew lessons from best practice examples and suggested measures for the successful implementation of PPP projects. The conference was attended by specialists in the field of PPP, practicing managers, industry professionals and researchers from India and abroad.
ICPE Acting Director General Janez Podobnik addressed the audience during the inaugural as well as the final session, whereas the technical session on financing of PPP/PPP in IT was co-chaired by Tomaž Rogelj, ICPE executive manager, who also delivered the vote of thanks and closing remarks. The presidential address of the conference was given Kusumjit Sidhu, Secretary, Department of Public Enterprises (DPE), Ministry of Heavy Industry and Public Enterprises, Government of India and ICPE Council President.

ICPE host state, Slovenia, was represented at the conference by Mojca Hrovatič, Minister Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia to India, while among the group of international experts the representatives of Slovenian technological companies (Robotina, Hidria, etc.) successfully presented individual case studies and viable solutions in the field of energy PPP.
On Tuesday, 4 February 2014, Mr Rahul Chhabra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, visited ICPE Headquarters, during the official visit to Slovenia on the occasion of the 9th Political consultation between the Republic of Slovenia and India.
Acting Director General, Mr Janez Podobnik welcomed honourable guests, Joint Secretary Mr Chhabra, HE Mr Sarvajit Chakravarti, Ambassador of India in Slovenia as well as other members of the delegation.

ADG presented the ICPE’s official visit to New Delhi and Hyderabad in January this year as also the activity plan in 2014. It was mutually agreed that ICPE and its biggest member state, India will continue the good cooperation. Joint Secretary expressed the support of the Ministry of the External Affairs of the Government of India for ICPE current and future activities and the positive trend of ICPE’s development, especially with regard to educational programmes.
The official meeting was followed by the reception in the honour of the Joint Secretary with distinguished guest from Slovenia and the Indian International MBA students.
