ICPE joins the preparation of the Indian Summer Event

ICPE is glad to announce its cooperation in the Indian Summer event project, below please find more information:

Date: 30th August 2013, from 18:00 to 24:00.
Where in Ljubljana: Bikofe (Židovska steza 2), Antique Palace Hotel (Gosposka ulica 10), ZRC SAZU, The Scientific Research Centre, and the Slovene Academy of Sciences and Arts (Novi trg 2).

PROGRAMME


CONCERT OF CLASSICAL INDIAN MUSIC:

Location: Antique Palace Hotel, atrium, from 20:00 to 22:00, entrance fee: 6.00 EUR.


Concert of classical Indian music, Nino Mureškič (percussion) & Damir Višič (sardu):

1.   Raga Malkauns / alop, jor, jhala / teentaal gat set to drut gat
2.   Raga Bhopali /  jhaptal gat set to teentaal / drut gat set to teentaal
3.   Nirvana  / ragunath set composition
4.   Afganian traditional composition set to 7 beats
5.   Solo frame drum

Photographic projection on the walls of the atrium in memory of the traveller Smiljan Šiška; selection of the photographe of Borut Šraj, Arne Hodalič & Smiljan Šiška.

Multivisional projection of the Kumbh Mella, the oldest and biggest religious festival in the world – a 45-minute-long projection of 1,000 photos by photographers Smiljan Šiška and Borut Šraj who took photographs in India over a period of more than 30 years.

Arne Hodalič says that India is one of the most photogenic countries on earth. He has been going there for 25 years and capturing its stories in photographs. Not all of them have been told. We will see the ones he has managed to collect.

 

DANCING & SINGING:

Location: ZRC SAZU, atrium, from 18:30 to 19:30, entrance fee: 6.00 EUR.


Shakti – KUOD Bayani Dance Association (Slovenia) in collaboration with Ms Manaranjanie's Music Ensemble (Sri Lanka/Slovenia) present a blend of Indian classical music and dance moving on to Bollywood tunes. Ms Manaranjanie is a university lecturer and certified artist in Indian classical music conveying her knowledge to students in Slovenia as well. Among these are: Martina Kranjec (keyboard), Anita Prelovšek (flute) and Vasja Štukelj (tabla) who form the ensemble.

The SHAKTI Dance Troupe is under the mentorship of Nataša Kočar and Sylvia Valentine who have been dedicated particularly to classical Indian dance styles for years, learning from various established teachers, also in India. The performance includes elements of Bharatnatyam (Southern Indian classical dance), Kathak (Northern Indian classical dance) and film dance excerpts influenced by a classical touch. 

STREET PARTY

Location: Gosposka Street between Bikofe and Atrium Palace Hotel, from 18:00 to 00:00.

DJ program (Bikofe):

 

1. 18:00-20:00 (6pm-8pm): TC Leila (Tatjana Capuder) & DJ Yves Thibord; French DJ Yves Thibord (Cosmomix Cosmopop) travels for decades with his machines the soundscapes of Africas and Asias, while Leila Bin Nur spins them on the air at Radio Student. Flying carpet to the alleys of Bollywood.

2. 20:00-22:00 (8pm-10pm): DJ Shanti Priya (Zana Fabjan Blažič); her shoes are Japanese, her accent is Russian, but her heart is Indian. Shanti Priya dreams that if she listens to and plays Bollywood music for long enough, someday she will meet ShahRukh Khan.
3. 22:00-24:00 (10pm-12pm): DJ Borka (Borja Močnik) & DJ MiraZ (Mirza Goršić); playful collaboration between an experienced DJ veteran of the Slovenian scene and a music aficionado who has travelled extensively around India.   

Screening of video material on the walls of Gosposka Street (after Sunset at 19:44, before sunset screening in shadows and on TV screens).

VJ Roro (Robertina Šebjanič) and VJ Delta Nu (Maja Smrekar) are video artists who use all kinds of live video to collaborate with various artists in interactive sound/visual projects. This time they are going to tell us a story of their own by re-mixing various crazy Tollywood, Bollywood, Mollywood, Kollywood, Wellywood, etc. video references into a spectacular postmodernist mix of mass media footage fragments.

 

Breaks in-between the DJ programme:

Indian fashion show. Beautiful people wearing Sergej's selection of second-hand clothes from India. Party guests will have a chance to wear Indian clothing.

Dancing. Sylvia Valentine’s Bollywood choreographies.
