The International Language Conference: »The Importance of Learning Professional Foreign Languages for Communication between Cultures«, 22-23 September 2011, Celje, Slovenia

In today’s globalised business and social environments intercultural communication is an integral part of most modern professions. Consequently, good foreign language skills have become essential for overcoming language and cultural barriers and have been recognized as one of the inevitable competences of professionals from all walks of life.

Today’s students are tomorrow’s professionals who will conduct business on a global scale. As logistics is markedly global in its nature, The Faculty of Logistics at the University of Maribor strives to promote foreign language learning and teaching by organizing the International Language Conference on the ‘Importance of Learning Professional Foreign Languages for Communication between Cultures’. After our successful conferences of 2008, 2009 and 2010, we now announce the fourth conference to be held on 22-23 September 2011.

With the conference we would like to examine the shape of teaching and learning professional foreign languages and identify potential changes and processes taking place within all fields and areas related to professional foreign language teaching/learning. We would thus particularly like to encourage submissions from academics, practitioners, and students to discuss current international issues and reflect on the challenges in the broad area of professional language learning and teaching.

Details on the conference will be published on website of the Faculty of Logistics.
