Visit of delegation from South African Embassy in Vienna at ICPE on 19 March 2013

The key focus of the meeting with South African delegation was to present activities of ICPE, secure the participation of South African representatives at various upcoming ICPE events and to explore options for collaboration sealed by concrete joint projects.

Acting Director General Mr. Podobnik presented the second Africa Day in Slovenia co-organized by ICPE on 7^th and 8^th of May in Ljubljana and Executive Manager Mr. Rogelj informed the present about the international conference and workshop “UPLIFTING the Environment: Ogun State – Nigeria Goes Green” also co-organized by ICPE.  Ambassador Mr. Dragan introduced the Second International two-day Conference on Economic Diplomacy and Internationalization to be held on 17 – 18 June 2013 in Ljubljana. The representatives of ICPE suggested that representatives of South Africa actively participate at all three events.

Minister Plenipotentiary Ms. Lydia Greyling said it’s refreshing to see so much energy in ICPE. She could not confirm the South African attendance at all events but has promised her best to organize it or look for alternatives. She will also inform the South African Ministry of Foreign affairs and recommend to their mission in Abuja as well as the African Renaissance Fund.

Honorary President of ICPE Council Dr. Anton Vratuša presented the beginnings of ICPE and suggested that South African expert prepares an article for the coming issue of Public Enterprise Journal dedicated to integrated management of protected areas. He also proposed that a delegation of South Africa attends at a guest this year’s ICPE council and assembly in June.
