Special Advisor to DG, Amb. Zvone Dragan and Dr. Janez Podobnik, Director of ECPD Institute, attended a roundtable discussion in Zagreb on 27 February 2011, on the theme: Investigating Possibilities for Contribution of the SME (Small and Medium Enterprises) Sector to Sustainable Development of the Sava River Basin, which was held at the Economical Institute of Zagreb, on the initiative of dr. Dejan Komatina, Secretary of International Commission for the Sava river basin.
The project FASRB (Framework Agreement on the river Sava basin) was internationally oriented and it happened in collaboration between the countries in the Sava river Basin: Croatia, BiH, Serbia and Slovenia The primary aim was to ensure a sustainable use, protection and management of water resources in the basin, and thus enable better life conditions and raising the standard of population in the region. The discussion mainly had to do with fostering development of the Sava river Basin and the idea of cycling by the river Ljubljanica (managed by the City of Ljubljana), which is a part of the basin and important land mark of the city.
